Post-Surgery Recovery Support in Stratford upon Avon
Surgery is an assault on the body — even when it goes perfectly. Whether you’ve had an orthopaedic procedure, a hysterectomy, a joint replacement, or major abdominal surgery, the recovery phase demands as much from you as the operation itself. Tissue needs to heal. Inflammation needs to resolve. And energy levels that have been depleted by anaesthesia, fasting, and physical stress need to rebuild.
At Revive Restore Repair in Stratford-upon-Avon, we help post-surgical clients move through recovery more effectively using a combination of evidence-informed, non-pharmaceutical therapies.
HBOT for Surgical Recovery
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) delivers pure oxygen at increased atmospheric pressure, saturating tissues — including damaged ones — with far more oxygen than normal breathing provides. After surgery, this supports wound healing at a cellular level: promoting angiogenesis (new blood vessel growth), reducing infection risk, and accelerating the repair of soft tissue and bone. HBOT has the strongest clinical evidence base of our three therapies for post-surgical recovery and is a well-established adjunct in orthopaedic and reconstructive care.
Red Light Therapy for Tissue Repair
Red Light Therapy uses targeted wavelengths (635–940nm) to penetrate tissue, reduce localised inflammation, and stimulate ATP production — the cellular fuel that drives the repair process. For post-surgical clients, it can help manage the inflammation around incision sites, reduce scar tissue formation, and accelerate overall healing. Sessions are non-invasive and take around 15 minutes.
Cryotherapy for Pain and Swelling
Whole-body Cryotherapy reduces systemic inflammation and can significantly improve pain levels during recovery. By triggering the body’s natural anti-inflammatory response through short-duration cold exposure, it can reduce reliance on anti-inflammatory medication and improve comfort during the early recovery phase. We introduce Cryotherapy carefully and assess suitability on a case-by-case basis — timing matters after surgery.
When Can You Start?
The right time to begin a post-surgical programme depends on the procedure, your surgeon’s guidance, and how your body is responding. In most cases, we recommend waiting until wounds have closed and you’ve been cleared for gentle activity. We’ll work around your medical team’s instructions and design a programme that fits where you are in recovery.

“After major Ovarian Cancer surgery, the results of using HBOT have been mind-blowing. My energy is up, brain fog has gone and wounds have healed that couldn’t before.

Post Surgery Support FAQs
Can I start therapy immediately after surgery?
It depends on the procedure and your surgeon’s guidance. In most cases, we ask clients to wait until surgical wounds have closed and they’ve been cleared for gentle activity — typically 2–6 weeks post-op, though major procedures may require longer. We’ll review your individual timeline at your free consultation and design a programme that fits your recovery stage. We never override your medical team’s instructions.
How does HBOT help with wound healing after surgery?
HBOT delivers high-concentration oxygen to tissues at increased pressure, which accelerates the body’s natural repair process. After surgery, this supports angiogenesis (the growth of new blood vessels), reduces the risk of post-surgical infection, and promotes the regeneration of damaged soft tissue and bone. It’s one of the most evidence-backed applications of HBOT and is used in specialist units for complex wound healing worldwide.
Is Red Light Therapy safe after surgery?
Can I combine multiple therapies for faster recovery?
Yes — and for most post-surgical clients, a combined approach is what we recommend. HBOT, Red Light Therapy, and Cryotherapy each work through different mechanisms and complement each other well. HBOT addresses deep tissue oxygenation and repair; Red Light Therapy manages inflammation and surface healing; Cryotherapy reduces pain and swelling.
Do I need a GP referral to book a post-surgical recovery consultation?
No GP referral is needed. You can book a free consultation directly. However, we do ask post-surgical clients to share relevant medical information — including the procedure performed and any surgeon or GP instructions — so we can design a programme that’s genuinely appropriate for your circumstances.
